Location

Online

Date & Time

November 19, 2026, 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Description

As institutions place greater strategic and financial importance on online learning, leaders are reconsidering how they approach growth, differentiation, capacity, and AI implementation in a more mature and competitive landscape.

Drawing on six focus groups with 30 online learning leaders conducted for the 2026 CHLOE Conversations Report Series, we will explore how they are making more selective decisions about growth, using quality and the student experience to differentiate programs, and responding to mounting pressure to demonstrate value. We will also examine the expanding role of generative AI, including how leaders are collaborating across campus to shape institutional strategy and seeking stronger evidence to assess AI’s impact.

Outcomes

  • Explore how institutions are approaching online program growth and identifying opportunities in an increasingly competitive market.
  • Examine how online learning leaders are supporting institutional adoption of generative AI and the challenges limiting their ability to assess its impact.
  • Consider how institutions are using quality and the student experience to demonstrate the value of online learning.
  • Identify shared priorities and key differences across community colleges and public and private four-year institutions.

The session will surface shared themes and key differences across community colleges and public and private four-year institutions, offering insight into the strategic choices institutions are facing now.
